Full Guardians Of The Galaxy Trailer Revealed

If you weren’t already excited for Marvel‘s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy theatrical release, maybe the new trailer that was released on Tuesday will help get you pumped.

The new Guardians of the Galaxy trailer was unveiled for the first time on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, and features all of the main characters from the cult Marvel comic of the same name. The trailer provides a little bit of back story for each of the Guardians, helping audiences unfamiliar with the characters begin to get a feel for who these heroes are.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Police Line-up

Along with some character info, the new Guardians of the Galaxy trailer also sets up the main plot point for the movie as Peter Quill, aka ‘Starlord’, takes possession of a mysterious blue orb which contains great power. Unfortunately for Quill, many of the worst players in the Marvel universe wish to possess this orb, including The Collector, who was shown on-screen for the first time during the end-credits scene of Thor: The Dark World and is being played by Academy Award winner Benecio Del Toro.

The cast of Guardians of the Galaxy also includes Chris Pratt as Starlord, a half-human half-alien rebel whose nickname maybe isn’t catching on as well as he’d like; Zoë Saldana as the beautiful but deadly Gamora; and WWE Superstar Dave Bautista as the powerful and vengeance driven Drax. Bradley Cooper voices the incomparable Rocket Racoon, and Vin Diesel, who as reported previously by Inquisitor, is the man behind the giant tree known as Groot. Also hard to miss in the trailer is one John C. Riley, who plays Rhomann Dey in the film.

During the trailer we see Korath the Pursuer (Djimon Hounsou) take Starlord into custody, after which he is transported to a space prison where he meets and teams up with the rest of the Guardians team. The group of heroes band together in order to escape the prison and protect the orb from Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) and Nebula (Karen Gillan).

Guardians of the Galaxy is being directed by James Gunn and is set to arrive in theaters on August 1st of this year. Between now and then, however, Marvel fans will not have to do without, as Captain America: Winter Soldier will release world-wide on April 4th. It looks like it’s gonna be a good year for Marvel lovers.
