Shayne Lamas Suffers Setback, Still In ICU After Miscarriage
Former Bachelor winner Shayne Lamas has suffered a setback in her recovery, after she had a miscarriage on February 9, following a frightening pregnancy complication.
The heartbreaking situation continues to drag on for the 28-year-old Lamas and her husband Nik Richie.
On Monday, Richie gave a heartfelt update on his wife’s condition following the devastating news of the loss of the couple’s baby:
“I’m still working from the ICU. This has been the toughest week of my life, but my love for Shayne Lamas has grown tremendously. My wife is a true fighter. Her heart gave out on Valentine’s Day and we had to start the rehabilitation process all over again.”
Shayne Lamas miscarried the child she was carrying as reported by her father, actor Lorenzo Lamas, who at the time told People magazine:
“We are so grateful that my daughter, Shayne Lamas-Richie, is conscious and stable. She is not in a coma, however she did miscarry the child she was carrying. We are so very grateful to the hospital personnel and the doctors who saved her life last night.”
“Shayne is aware of her condition and that her family and her husband are here with her and love her so much,. She will be remaining in the hospital until her doctors determine that she can be released.”
Lamas — who was 16-weeks pregnant — collapsed in her home on February 9 and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
It was determined she was bleeding around the uterus and lost the child during emergency surgery.
After Shayne Lamas was chosen by Matt Grant during The Bachelor Season 12, but afterwards broke things off with him in 2008.
Lamas and Richie met and married in 2010 and had recently announced how excited to be expecting a second child together. They have a daughter, Press Dahl Lamas-Richie, in November 2011.
Nik has been trying to keep Shayne Lamas’ fans updated as much as possible via social media:

I’m being told by doctor. It’s a miracle Shayne is alive. Only 5% of people survive this surgery because of massive blood loss. #blessed

But things took a turn for the worse for Shayne Lamas on Valentine’s Day, her husband saying her heart “gave out”:
Update: This morning we took a step backward and Shayne was rushed to S.I.C.U. Special thank you to Dr. Abravesh, Dr. Brown and Dr. Marquez.
