Fans can watch the Team Canada vs. Finland hockey match live online as the teams square off for supremacy in their group at the Sochi Olympics.
The game is scheduled for 12 pm ET on Sunday, pitting two teams with 2-0 records.
Team Canada responded to criticism that they didn’t look sharp in the first game, a 3-1 victory over Norway, by dismantling Austria in the second game. Canada rode an offensive spark to a 6-0 victory, getting goals from Drew Doughty, Shea Weber, and Ryan Getzlaf.
Jeff Carter also scored a hat trick, the first natural hat trick by a Canadian men’s hockey player since Paul Knox in 1956.
“It just kind of happened,” said Carter. “I was in the right place at the right time for pretty much all of them.”
After being paired on a line with Sidney Crosby in the first game, Carter floated between Canada’s four lines in the second game, scoring three times on short shots after camping out near the net.
“I didn’t really have to shoot many of them — or any of them,” Carter said. “I just drove the net on basically all of them. It’s a good sign if you’re getting offense like that.”
“It’s just another step in the right direction for us,” Carter added about the resounding victory.
Roberto Luongo notched 23 saves in the win, though fans who watch Team Canada vs. Finland live online may see Carey Price start instead.
Austria was playing in its first Winter Olympics tournament since 2002, and were not expected to put up much of a fight against the Canadians. But that will not be the case with Finland, who defeated Norway 6-1 on Friday and will be competing with Canada to win the pool.
Those who watch Team Canada vs. Finland live online can see a much looser team than the one that took the ice in the opener against Norway. After playing two games in 48 hours, the Canadian club was given a day of rest by head coach Mike Babcock, who said on Saturday that “coaches are not allowed to talk to players besides saying ‘hi’ to them.”
