Valentine’s Day Is Coming, So Reserve A Table At McDonald’s

For those who haven’t noticed, Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. If you discover that your favorite restaurant is completely booked because you forgot to make reservations, then rest easy — there are still a few options still available.

Although you run the risk of completely offending your date by suggesting such an idea, the folks at McDonald’s are accepting reservations for Valentine’s Day. If you and your significant other don’t mind substituting a Big Mac for gourmet food, then the fast food joint is ready to make your evening very special.

Unfortunately for fast food romantics, only a handful of McDonald’s restaurant are celebrating Valentine’s Day this year. One location in Tampa Bay, Florida is temporarily transforming into sit-down establishment complete with mushy decorations and LED candles.

Instead of sporting regular McDonald’s uniforms, the employees will rock fancier outfits and provide table-side service. If you need a refill on your favorite soft drink while gazing into your date’s eyes, then the restaurant has you covered. Interested parties can reserve a table by phone, though don’t get too frustrated if you discover they’re completely booked as well.

So who’s responsible for McDonald’s attempt to cash in on Valentine’s Day? The Daily Mail reports that an employee at the Tampa Bay location cooked up the idea of giving customers something a little different.

General manager Ernesto Izquierdo told the Tampa Bay Times:

“She came to me and asked me what I thought. She has three kids and she thought it would be a cool thing for them. Maybe for them it’s a first Valentine’s Day, and they can’t afford to go to a lot of places. There a misconception that it has to be romantic. It’s about showing someone you love them.”

Franchise owner Casper Co. didn’t have a problem with the idea. According to community relations vice president Bob Conigliaro, the company was extremely supportive of the Valentine’s Day transformation.

“We empower our managers to come up with creative ideas to help build relationships in the community and to build their reputation. I’ve been with Caspers for 39 years, and this is unique for us,” he said.

A McDonald’s location in Southport, North Carolina is also offering an experience for patrons looking for something different on Valentine’s Day. Not only is the restaurant providing a sit-down experience, they’ve also hired a singer named Ron to perform for these romantic eaters.

Do you already have plans for Valentine’s Day? Would you consider getting a reservation at a nearby McDonald’s if they offered a sit-down experience for hungry couples?
