Suicide By Nail Gun: CEO’s Body Found In Garage

A Colorado businessman under investigation by state authorities committed suicide by shooting himself with a nail gun, according to the local coroner’s office.

Richard M. Talley, 56, was found dead in his garage from self-inflicted nail gun wounds. A family member discovered the body last Tuesday. According to the Arapahoe County coroner, Talley’s death was the result of seven or eight nails fired into his chest and head.

Talley was the founder and CEO of American Title Services, which had come under the scrutiny of state insurance regulators. According to the Denver Post, it is “unclear is whether Talley’s suicide was related to the investigation by the Colorado Division of Insurance, which regulates title companies.”

A Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies spokesman confirmed that Talley and his company — which was founded in 2001 — were under investigation but offered no further details about the probe.

In addition to American Title Services which operated eight had offices in the state including the main office in Centennial, Colorado, Talley reportedly launched several other companies, some of which are now out of business, including American Escrow, Clear Title, Clear Creek Financial Holdings, American Real Estate Services, and the American Alliance of Real Estate Professionals.

The company’s website explains that “At American Title we believe that every closing, every client and every person involved in a transaction should feel well informed, valued and a welcomed part of the event. To accomplish this we believe in ‘Old World Service at New World Speed’…”

Richard Talley’s wife of 25 years Cheryl reportedly posted the following message on Facebook:

“I would like to thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, meals and outpouring of love that Jill, Patrick and I have received. We feel so blessed by the angels who have surrounded us in this time of mourning and grieving for the loss of our love, Richard.”
