Scarlett Johansson Is Hunting Humans In The New ‘Under The Skin’ Trailer [Video]

Scarlett Johansson is on the prowl for humans in director Jonathan Glazer’s trippy sci-fi flick Under the Skin.

The actress stars as a sultry extraterrestrial who takes a trip to Earth in search of some fresh meat. Since human flesh is a delicacy in her neck of the cosmos, the curvy alien searches for lonely guys in the wilds of Scotland. You can see part of her twisted ritual in the clip embedded below.

That admittedly thin synopsis probably doesn’t do the flick justice considering the amount of very odd footage found in the latest trailer for Under the Skin. Scarlett Johansson, who famously strips down to her slinky black underwear in the clip, and Jonathan Glazer apparently have a very hallucinogenic experience lined up for adventurous moviegoers.

Although the flick debuted last year at the Telluride Film Festival, the flick is just now hitting theaters in the US. Those who can’t wait to see Johansson work her charms on unsuspecting victims can check out the movie when it arrives on April 4.

To make the film feel a bit more realistic than your typical cinematic endeavor, Scarlett Johansson drove around inside a van equipped with several hidden cameras. According to the Los Angeles Times, she would then try to talk strangers into climbing inside the vehicle.

When someone took the actress up on her offer, they were immediately told about the movie. As long as the unsuspecting guys signed a release form, Glazer and company could use the footage in the finished product. It’s probably a unique honor to get hoodwinked by Scarlett Johansson.

Glazer explained the process to Indiewire last year:

“There were lots of pieces, lots of film that was shot, 270 hours of film I think. Sometimes I had eight cameras running…there were fantastic scenes that I didn’t get permission to use. So it was quite a high wire act in that sense, you would not know what you were going to get every day. You would take risks that meant that you might be shooting for three hours and end up with nothing.”

All of Glazer’s hard work seems to have paid off; the film has received a large number of positive reviews ahead of its theatrical release. Under the Skin presently sports a Rotten Tomatoes score of 89 percent as of this writing.

“The most striking passages deliver a heartily Kubrickian dose of science-fiction erotica but the movie’s menacing allure evaporates midway through, followed by the last vestiges of a comprehensible plotline,” The Grid writer Jason Anderson explained in his review.
