West Virginia Fires Bill Stewart, Move Surprises No One

As expected West Virginia on Friday “fired” head football coach Bill Stewart after a reporter accused him of asking members of the media to dig up “dirt” on head-coach-in-waiting Dana Holgorsen.

Sports News revealed that the university fired Stewart for, “conduct detrimental to the University.”

The move to fire the coach or rather allow him to resign in public shows the universities disapproval for the coach who was set to resign at the end of this season anyways.

Stewart’s season win-loss record was exactly the same in each of his three seasons at 9-4 (5-2 conference).

Holgorsen will receive a starting salary of $1.4 million with a yearly increase of $250,000 for as long as he retains the Morgantown position.
