Is Kate Upton’s Dance Better than Victor Cruz?

Kate Upton recently got a lesson in football culture, learning a signature touchdown dance move from Tracy Morgan. The 30 Rock alum explained touchdown dances to the Sports Illustrated cover model and sports enthusiast (who presumably is familiar with the concept of both touchdowns and touchdown dances), then taught her the moves, which she promptly aced. Both Upton and Morgan seemed surprised at how well she did on her first try.

Upton is a long-time sports fan, so it’s no real surprise she showed a lot of interest when Morgan showed her the steps during the shooting of their Vogue “We Got Game” piece by Mario Testino. The shoot was scheduled before the Super Bowl, and included such celebs as Jimmy Fallon and Giants and Jets players. Upton, wearing a skin-tight white dress and towering high heels, did not let her restrictive outfit get in the way as Morgan handed her the ball and asked her to demonstrate what she’d learned. The video clip of her nailing the moves showed up on the Web not long after it was filmed, and she mentioned to Victor Cruz, New York Giants wide receiver, that she was going to steal his touchdown dance moves. He responded that she could borrow them for the off-season, but that he would need them back. Maybe her custody of the moves will give the Giants a little bit of luck (and Cruz more opportunities to use them) when they hit the field again in August. Maybe she should “borrow” Jacoby Jones’ moves as well, sprinkling them with enough luck to hit the end zone a little more often in the upcoming season.

While football season is over, many of us are still perfecting our dance moves for the upcoming season. Upton, however, seems to be focusing on baseball for now. She’s been seen with ex-boyfriend Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers getting close in the Bahamas. Whether or not this was just a fun vacation or a real attempt at a reconciliation remains to be seen. One thing is for sure, though: Miss Upton has always been a sports fan and an accomplished dancer, especially when it comes to celebration dances. Many teams would like to see her in the end zone performing a touchdown dance, but for now they’ll have to settle for watching this clip.
