Jason Bateman in Early Talks To Join Vince Vaughn For ‘The Insane Laws’

Universal Pictures is currently holding talks with actor Jason Bateman for the movie The Insane Laws which already stars A-lister Vince Vaughn.

The movie will be directed by screenwriter Jeremy Garelick, marking the first time he steps behind the camera. The movie was originally picked up by Sony Pictures but then sent into turnaround, clearing the way for Universal Pictures to pick it up and go after Vaughn and Bateman.

Original Film‘s Nearl Moritze will produce the film, he co-wrote The Break-Up with Garelick, that move also starred Vince Vaughn. Garelick was also uncredited for his work on The Hangover script.

Here’s a quick rundown of the movie:

Bateman and Vaughn play longtime friends through childhood, college and after getting married and having kids of their own. When their children (son and daughter) go away to college they fall in love with one another and Vaughn’s daughter becomes pregnant.

The movie could begin filming by this fall with a 2012 release should Bateman jump on-board.
