San Jose Stabbing Victim Identified

San José police say they have identified the victim in Thursday deadly downtown stabbing. Earlier reports stated that the stabbing was a result of a heated argument that took place across the street from Cesar Chavez Park.

The Inquisitr reported on the incident Thursday saying that a heated argument just outside the Fairmont hotel in downtown San José ended with the stabbing murder of one individual. Police said it marked the city’s fifth homicide of the year.

According to San José Mercury News, police have now identified the victim as 26-year-old Jason Rosario. Police have described the man as a local transient, and was found suffering from at least one stab wound around 12:20 am Thursday morning.

After identifying Thursday’s victim, reports of another stabbing started making their way through the news. According to CBS San Francisco, another man was found barely alive, also suffering from a stab wound early Friday morning. Police Sargent Heather Randol said that officers responded to a call of the stabbing around 2:50 am.

San José Mercury News stated that this stabbing seems to be unrelated to the attack on Thursday morning, though they both took place in the same area. Thursday’s stabbing took place in the 100 block of South Market Street according to The Inquisitr, while Friday’s stabbing took place in the 300 block of South Market Street, both near Cesar Chavez Park according to police Sargent Randol.

Police are investigating both cases to their fullest. In Thursday’s stabbing, police have very little to go off. Police said they were going to collect and review surveillance videos from the Fairmont and other nearby businesses to see if the stabbing may have been caught on tape. It is unknown whether or not Rosario knew his attacker, and police say they have no suspects as of yet.

Police have found out a little more information regarding Friday’s stabbing. They are now saying that the victim and the suspect did in fact know each other. Police are actively searching for the suspect and have yet to locate them. The man was reportedly taken to a local area hospital to have his wounds treated, and his condition has been listed as critical.

In both cases, police say that the motives and circumstances surrounding the attacks are unknown. Even though both stabbings took place within blocks of each other, police do believe, at this time, that the incidents are completely unrelated.
