Clint Eastwood Uses Heimlich To Save Choking Man

Clint Eastwood is a hero in real life by using the Heimlich maneuver.

The actor/director, 83, reportedly save the life of a choking man at an AT&T Pebble Beach golf tournament event in California.

“Clint saved my life,” the man who had some food lodged in his throat, declared.

The incident occurred at the Pro-AM’s volunteer dinner Wednesday night at the Monterey Conference Center.

Tournament director Steve John, 50, described today how Clint Eastwood saved his life: “A piece of cheese went in my mouth, and suddenly I couldn’t breathe. It was as bad as it could have been. But Clint came up behind me and he knew exactly what to do. He did the Heimlich maneuver and he lifted me right off the ground.” John added that the cheese popped out of his mouth, and he was fine, thanks to Eastwood’s life-saving intervention.

“I can’t believe I’m 202 pounds, and he threw me up in the air three times,” added John.

Eastwood — who is currently chairman of the Monterey Peninsula Foundation — has traditionally played a prominent role at the tournament, which raises millions for charity in various capacities, and he also presents the trophy to the winning golfer.

According to Eastwood, he could tell instantly that Steve John was in trouble: “I gave him three good jolts, and that got it out. The look on Steve’s face was different than when somebody is just coughing or joking around. I looked in his eyes and saw that look of panic people have when they see their life passing before their very eyes. It looked bad.”

The actor/director admitted that this was the first time he ever performed the Heimlich maneuver on a real person.

Eastwood, who has 66 acting credits on IMDB, has won Oscars as a director for Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby, both of which also won the Academy Award for Best picture.
