One Direction Lands Free Cab Rides For A Year
“Ask and you shall receive” should be the new motto for the boy band One Direction.
When their most recent video Midnight Memories debuted earlier this week, a London-based company could not help but notice that they had received a shout out. There, in the video, was one of Addison Lee’s vehicles for all of their 14 million viewers to see.
“Surely we get some kind of @AddisonLeeCabs gold card for the name drop haha!!??” 22-year-old Louis Tomlinson wrote on his personal Twitter page.
He received an immediate response from Addison Lee that said: “@Louis_Tomlinson Best name drop ever! We’ll be in touch with a thankyou. BTW, 20 is way too many in an Add Lee.” The company later added: “did you say gold car? We’ve got one here for you ready and waiting – give us a call when you need it.” They later added: Joking aside, how about a free car for a year?”

According to the British newspaper The Sun, Addison Lee was thrilled to have their name appear in the video, and was happy to provide the boys Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, and Louis Tomlinson with a free ride for a year.
“Addison Lee were delighted to be mentioned in the song,” a source told the newspaper. “They even tried to see how many people you could actually fit in one of their cabs off the back of it. So they were more than happy to give something in return,” the source explained. “Thanks to Louis, they came up with the idea of giving them a year’s worth of free cab journeys.”
One Direction made their way to fame by appearing on the British version of the X Factor back in 2010, and relied heavily on the Addison Lee cab services. “One Direction have used Add Lees since they were on the X Factor, and continued to use the company after they were signed,” the insider revealed. “They actually ended up using the same driver quite often, so they took him to Wembley one week to thank him for ferrying them around.
Lots of the X Factor alumni are still customers of the cab company.”
