Susan Sarandon Discusses Split With Tim Robbins, Hints At New Love


Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins divorced in 2009 after 20 years of marriage. Five years later, the 67-year-old actress has opened up about their split. She has also hinted that she is ready to move forward with a new romance. Sarandon said change is never easy, but she is done dwelling on the past.

The iconic actress said her role in the stage production Exit the King had a profound impact on her life. As the play begins, King Berenger the First is told that he is dying. Although he initially ignores the prediction, he eventually accepts his impending death. He is also forced to accept the fact that his kingdom and life are completely out of his control.

Sarandon said the play caused her to reevaluate her life and her relationship:

“You can’t do a meditation on death and stay in a situation that’s not authentic… It made me examine where I was in my union and in my life, and to have discussions about making changes.”

After a lot of soul searching, Sarandon realized her marriage was over. Although the decision was difficult, the actress said she has no regrets:

“It’s better to have made decisions that turned out badly and learn from them than to feel as if you had no choice and are resentful of the turns that your life takes … My life has been filled with happy accidents.”

With her 20-year marriage over and her three children grown, Sarandon is working on some new and interesting endeavors.

One of Susan Sarandon’s newest adventures is a ping-pong nightclub called SPiN. The unique New York club is described as a “day and nighttime venue with 17 ping-pong courts, a full bar, restaurant, pro-shop. and private VIP room.” The club is co-owned by Jonathan Bricklin.

As reported by CBS News, the collaboration led to numerous rumors about a romantic relationship between the business partners. Although Sarandon was hesitant to disclose the details, when asked if she and Bricklin were more than friends, she responded “yeah, I think so.”

Ping-pong, or table tennis, has become a fairly serious hobby for the actress. Sarandon said it is a fun sport that can be enjoyed by “every demographic, age, and body type.”

In addition to the nightclub, Sarandon will soon receive the distinction of AARP Magazine’s Lifetime Achievement Award, which will be presented during their Movies For Grownups award ceremony.

Susan Sarandon has proven herself as a talented and diverse actress. However, she continues to explore other talents and interests, with apparently include business ownership and ping-pong.
