Chris Brown Hit Super Bowl Party While Excused From Rehab For Court Date
Chris Brown took time out to party with his pal, rapper Trey Songz, the day before a court date in Los Angeles where he faced the possibility of going to jail for a probation violation, when he was excused from his court-ordered rehab stint strictly for the purpose of meeting with his lawyer.
Still on probation for the 2009 beating of his then-girlfriend, singer Rihanna, Chris Brown is facing charges connected to a Washington D.C. incident in which he allegedly punched an overly-pushy fan in the face. Monday, prosecutors argued that Brown’s behavior in the altercation — which took place in October of last year — was enough to send him directly to jail.
But a Los Angeles judge disagreed, saying he felt the “Kiss Kiss” crooner was making good progress in the anger-management rehab program and should be allowed to complete the program rather than endure incarceration.
But what neither the judge nor prosecutors knew was that the previous day, when Brown received special permission to take off early from rehab to meet with his defense lawyer, he went to a Super Bowl party hosted by his friend, the rapper Trey Songz, whose real name is Tremaine Neverson.
The celebrity-stalking site TMZ tracked Chris Brown, after he left the office of his attorney Marc Geragos, to the bash thrown by Trey Songz.
While the exact terms of the Chris Brown rehab furlough were not public, the BET online site noted, “The rehab probably frowns at patients leaving treatment for parties.”
However, according to TMZ, which keeps an eye on these things, Chris Brown was never without a rehab facility employee by his side, monitoring his actions.
Reportedly, he stayed at the party for only 10 minutes, leaving once he realized that it was private party and not a charity event as Chris Brown originally believed. TMZ also reported that the singer did not consume any alcohol at the Trey Songz Super Bowl shindig.
Whether Chris Brown will face any disciplinary action for heading to the party was not clear.
