Armed Gangs In Syria Kill 120 Police and Security Officers

It’s hard to pin down truths from fiction in Syria at the moment, however the countries state run TV is now claiming that “armed gangs” have killed at least 120 police and security officers in the northwest town of Jisr al-Shughour.

According to the reports, at least 82 of those attacks occurred at one security post. The report has not been verified by independent sources and the number jumped quickly throughout the day according to the New York Times.

The reports of attacks arrive after it was believed that Syrian officials used helicopter gunships and armored cars to fight against the opposition, killing 25 people.

According to state-run TV residents were “pleading” for the military to intervene while opposition activists spoke out against those reports with one person stating: “I have seen no evidence of organized violence by protesters” and “Protesters do not have weapons they could even use against tanks and helicopters.”
