Far Cry 3 Announced, Coming to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 Next Year

Ubisoft announced at their E3 press conference moments ago that Far Cry 3 is in development and is due out next year.

The title is being developed mainly by Ubisoft Montreal, but developmental support is being handled by Ubisoft Shanghai and Massive Entertainment, the studio currently working on Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.

“Whether you’re already a fan of the Far Cry series or jumping into the franchise for the very first time, you’re going to be blown away by the gritty story and epic adventure we’re going to deliver,” said producer Dan Hay.

The announcement of Far Cry 3 may not be the most surprising thing in the world considering the success of Far Cry 2, but it certainly is welcome. Far Cry 2 was one of my favorite titles of 2008, so I’m stoked to see what they can come up with next.
