Katie Couric And John Molner Getting Married This Summer

Katie Couric is finally going to settle down and marry boyfriend John Molner! The TV host announced the news while attending Howard Stern’s 60th birthday party in New York City on Friday.

According to Us Weekly, when talking to Stern, he asked when the big day was. And Couric replied with, “Summer!” In an earlier report by The Inquisitr, a spokesperson for Katie Couric confirmed the engagement back in early September 2013.

This isn’t Couric’s first time down the aisle. She was previously married to Jay Monahan in 1989. During their marriage, they had two daughters, Elinor “Ellie” Monahan and Caroline “Carrie” Couric Monahan. Jay Monahan died of colon cancer in 1998 at the age of 42, at which point Couric became a spokeswoman for colon cancer awareness. She even underwent a colonoscopy on-air in March 2000.

During an interview with More in January 2013, Couric said the following of her future marriage plans:

“It’s actually surprising to me that it has been almost 15 years and I haven’t remarried. I think life is more fun when you have someone in your life. I always wanted a father figure for my daughters, but it hasn’t worked out that way. I’ve had long-term relationships, but they haven’t turned into life-long partners.”

Couric and Molner had been dating for nearly two years by the time the couple got engaged. Of course, once the news broke, she was understandably excited. Couric took to Twitter saying:

“Yes it’s true! So touched by all the kind Tweets & warm wishes-thank you! A great end to the summer & looking fwd to seeing you all Monday!!”

USA Today stated that during Couric’s announcement at Stern’s birthday party, she made note that the ceremony is going to be very intimate, one that will only include the couple’s family. The party after the wedding may be a different story. Couric joked around saying that while Stern may not be invited to the actual ceremony, he would be invited to the after party.

Of course the joking didn’t end there. USA Today stated that when Stern found out the two wouldn’t be married for a few more months, he joked around saying “Do you want me to marry you right now?” and offered to officiate.

According to USA Today, Stern defiantly didn’t stop there. He reportedly “grilled” Molner about sleeping with Couric asking, “What’s it like to make love to America’s Sweetheart?” Molner first replied with “We’re going to do that on our wedding night,” though after a little more teasing finally stated, “Making love to America’s Sweetheart was amazing!”
