Beyoncé Knowles Fires Another Manager, Now In Charge Of Own Career With Help From Jay-Z

Beyoncé Knowles, the superstar singer whose latest, self-titled album continues to ride high at Number Four on the Billboard charts after rocketing to the top, dropping briefly then hitting Number One again in the middle of January, has made another career move.

The “Drunk In Love” singer has fired her manager. Again.

Her last victim, in 2011, was her own father. This time, it was Faisal Durrani, an exec with the giant concert promotion mega-firm Live Nation. Durrani will give way to Beyoncé Knowles herself who will take the reins of her own career with an unofficial assist from her husband, Shawn Carter, better known and rap icon and business entrepreneur Jay-Z.

“Jay has been heavily involved in Beyonce’s career for years, and was instrumental in organizing the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour,” said a source quoted in Britain’s Daily Mail. “But he isn’t officially regarded as her manager – she really is independent.”

In 2011 Beyoncé brought the axe down on Matthew Knowles, her own father, who had overseen the star’s career since its earliest stages 21 years before. While there were reports that Matthew Knowles had been skimming money from Beyoncé, the now-32-year-old Houston, Texas, native has never confirmed or denied those rumors.

Instead Beyoncé Knowles blamed a rocky relationship with her father for the managerial split.

“It took about two years, to when I was 20, for him to realize, Oh, she is an adult now, and if she doesn’t want to do something, I can’t make her do it,'” the singer has said.

But a source close to Beyoncé told The Mail that the “Single Ladies” songstress has effectively run her career since even before dismissing her father.

“Beyonce has managed herself since 2010 under her company Parkwood Entertainment,” the Beyoncé rep said. “Faisal Durrani worked for her as President for a very short time.”

The same sources say that the arrival of daughter Blue Ivy two years ago has caused Beyoncé Knowles and her 44-year-old husband to focus more on their home life. Placing themselves at the helm of Beyoncé’s career allows more flexibility in that regard.

They certainly don’t need the money. Reportedly, Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z have a combined net worth of $850 million.
