Eastern Florida State On Lockdown After Reports Of Shots Fired On Campus


Eastern Florida State College is on lockdown after reports of a school shooting were called in to local police dispatchers. An unknown suspect opened fire in a Palm Bay campus parking lot. WFTV News is reporting that at least one person was shot and taken to a nearby hospital. Another possible victim was also sent to the emergency room, but it not believed to suffer from gunshot wounds.

One identified Florida school shooting witness described the scene like this:

“We just heard a gunshot. Well, we heard a loud, ‘Pow, pow!’ We didn’t know. We didn’t know exactly what it was. No one was alarmed and then we just saw people running.”

Another victim recalled thinking that the gunshot sounded like a firecracker and did not make a loud bang. The Florida college shooting suspect is now believed to be the other individual transported from the scene via ambulance.

Local media outlets are reporting that the Eastern Florida State College shooting suspect was suffering from injuries received prior to the firing of a weapon on the school parking lot. A third individual possibly involved with the Florida college shooting is now being questioned.

This alert was posted on the Eastern Florida State College website:

“Shooting reported in parking lot of Palm Bay Campus. Campus is locked down. Remain indoors, with doors locked until further notice.”

All classes at this particular EFSC campus were canceled for the rest of the day. A police spokesperson is now reporting that three people were involved in a fight in a parking lot. Two men were allegedly attacking another man and the man being attacked retreated to his vehicle, grabbed a gun and shot one of his attackers in the chest.

One man with the gunshot wound was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center. The situation has now been contained and a campus lockdown has been lifted.
