Buffalo Wild Wings Reaches 1,000th Location Milestone

Buffalo Wild Wings (BWLD), the restaurant chains known for their delicious chicken wings, has reached a milestone, its 1,001 location.

The good news comes at the perfect time, right before Super Bowl Sunday, the day during which Americans consume a record number of wings.

The sports bar — which comes complete with big screen TVs so patrons can enjoy their favorite sporting event — offers a wide variety of sauces for all palates, making them one of the most popular destinations to find the perfect American food staple.

Buffalo Wild Wings — or B-Dubs as the restaurant is known by regulars — was founded in 1982 and it hopes to have 1,700 locations by 2023.

Sally Smith, president and CEO of Buffalo Wild Wings said in a statement marking the milestone:

“We can’t think of a better way to kick off the New Year than with this incredible milestone. We’ve come a long way from being a small but well-loved chicken wing restaurant in Ohio, to sharing our passion for wings, beer and sports with eager guests throughout North America – and soon, across the globe. We couldn’t have achieved this landmark of 1,000 restaurants without the dedication of our franchisees and team members and the passion of our loyal fans.”

Since Smith took over as CEO of Buffalo Wild Wings, the company hasn’t looked back and is on track to start an international expansion that includes locations in Mexico, the Philippines, plus 22 in the Middle East, in such countries as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi.

The Minneapolis based company started with 35 locations and is now reaching an important milestone in its history and frequently surpasses its competitors.

In 2013 Smith, who has led the company for 18 years said:

“We believe that Buffalo Wild Wings has great potential for international expansion. We have 13 restaurants in Canada, are opening three restaurants in Mexico, and will open in the Middle East and the Philippines in 2014.”

“We offer a good value for our guests in a fun and entertaining atmosphere where friends and family can gather to watch their favorite sporting events.”

In December, Buffalo Wild Wings announced that it would switch from Coke to Pepsi products such as Lipton teas, Tropicana juices, as well as Mountain Dew and Sierra Mist sodas, and will also offer PepsiCos long snack list.

Under the leadership of Smith, B-Dubs has established itself as the to-go restaurant when looking for the best place to hang out during the Super Bowl, the Olympics or the World Cup.

With all the international events happening in 2014, this could be the best year yet for Buffalo Wild Wings.
