Cory Monteith’s Name Misspelled During Grammy Tribute, Twitter Seethes With Anger

Cory Monteith fans aren’t very happy with the Grammy Awards committee at the moment.

During the music industry’s annual ceremony on Sunday evening, the show managed to misspell the late Glee star’s name during their In Memoriam tribute. Instead of Cory Monteith, the text that accompanied his photo read “Cory Montieth, ‘Glee’ actor, singer.” Someone behind-the-scenes was clearly sleeping on the job.

If fans were hoping for a fitting tribute to the late actor, then they walked away from the 2014 Grammy Awards with a spoonful of extreme resentment. Curious to see the offense in all its glory? Take a look at a screen capture from the broadcast below. Please try to keep your anger under control while checking it out.

As you may already have guessed, Cory Monteith fans were not too thrilled about the situation. Considering the number of people who work on the Grammy Awards, it’s a little shocking that something like this could slip under the radar. Not surprisingly, fans immediately expressed their anger about the snafu on social media.

To add insult to injury, the Grammys have yet to apologize to everyone for getting his name wrong. Never mind the fans and Glee supporters who were infuriated by the mistake — his friends and family definitely deserve better. It’s almost like his inclusion in the tribute was an afterthought that no one bothered to double check for mistakes.

Cory Monteith passed away last July at the age of 31 from a drug overdose in Vancouver. Glee fans were understandably devastated by the news, which explains why people reacted so emotionally to the misspelling during Sunday’s event.

Do you think the Grammys should apologize for screwing up Cory Monteith’s tribute?
