Melissa Gilbert: Rob Lowe Said ‘I Hate It When People Call Me Pretty’

Melissa Gilbert spoke candidly as a guest on Watch What Happens Live on Wednesday. The host of the show, Andy Cohen, wanted to quiz Gilbert on some of the more controversial statements she made in her 2010 book, Prairie Tale.

Cohen kicked off the somewhat intrusive interview by asking Gilbert if her one-time fiance Rob Lowe asked her to remove anything from her book.

She replied: “He asked me to take out the word ‘pretty’ when I referred to him. That was it…. ‘Just could you do one thing? Could you take out the word ‘pretty’? I hate it when people call me pretty.'”

What do you know? The iconic Rob Lowe doesn’t like being called pretty. Perhaps handsome would work better, especially if Lowe doesn’t like being called pretty because he’s not so in touch with his feminine side.

It seems that Cohen was on-the-ball, as he asked Melissa Gilbert some more questions about her book. Although, he probably wasn’t expecting the response she gave to his next question.

Cohen asked why Gilbert had referred to Rick James’ house as “the scariest place you’d ever been to.” She responded, “Because I thought I was gonna get gang-banged.” No one was expecting that one!

Rob Lowe isn’t the only Hollywood stud that Melissa Gilbert dated though. Back in the day, according to her, she also had a thing with Tom Cruise.

Cohen asked her outright if she’d dated him to which she replied: “That is true. When I dated him, he was Tom Mapother still. He had just moved to Los Angeles…. I did not have sex with him. We made out, but honestly, there was no sex…. He was a struggling actor and I was working, I actually bought him his first set of dishes.”

Melissa Gilbert said she “didn’t have sex with him?” I’ll leave you to come to your own conclusions on that one.

Maybe it depends upon whether you accept the generally understood definition of sex, or the Clinton interpretation….
