Selena Gomez Talks About Fallout With Demi Lovato
Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato used to be BFFs way back when they both worked at the Disney channel, but then something happened that made them drift apart.
Talking to Seventeen for their March issue, Selena Gomez opened up about the fact that she and Demi — who are childhood friends — are back to being tight after going through a rough patch starting in 2010, the same year Lovato entered rehab for emotional problems.
Gomez — who is coming of age this year — says that after she saw how Demi Lovato came clean with all her personal problems, she was inspired and decided to reconnect with her longtime pal.
“Demi’s very, very strong. She’s the only person that I would tell the deepest, darkest secrets to. The only person.”
It seems like their bond hasn’t been broken by the years apart, or Lovato’s struggles, and Selena Gomez admits:
“I’ve known her since we were 7, and we did fall apart for a while. She was going through things and I was so young and it was confusing. I processed it saying, ‘OK, I don’t understand what she’s going through so I’m just going to do this.’ I don’t think it was fair, and I’m so happy that I have her back in my life now.”

Selena Gomez is impressed with her friend Demi Lovato’s courage to seek help for her problems:
“I feel like we’re all given what we can handle, and clearly someone thought she could handle so much—and she could, and she did. And she’s incredible for that. I couldn’t imagine going through some of the things that she went through, and the fact that she is who she is today is insane—she’s one of my inspirations.”
In May of 2013, Demi Lovato also talked about reconnecting with her BFF, admittng:
“We’ve been through a lot together. We’ve had periods of times when we grew apart, and we just didn’t really talk. But now we’re in a place where we realize that life is so short, and that when you have people in your life that love you so much, then you should just always be around them.”
Selena Gomez is growing up, and reconnecting with Demi Lovato is another step in getting back to the important things in her life. Now if she could only get over Justin.
