Laura Linney Pregnancy Secret Revealed, Welcomes Baby Boy
Keeping a secret from the press is nearly impossible for a celebrity, but Laura Linney has pulled it off.
The whole time that she has been MIA, it turns out that she was pregnant with her first child.
The 49-year-old actress and her husband Marc Schauer welcomed a baby boy ten days ago, on January 8. The little bundle of joy — who is the couple’s first — was named Bennett Armistead Schauer.
Laura Linney and Schauer have been married since 2009 following a three-year engagement dated back to 2007.
The actress’ rep confirmed the news, according to People magazine. “They are very happy,” the rep said of the new parents.
What Laura Linney did is no small feat with 24/7 news, social media, and the close scrutiny from fans. Well done!
The last time The Big C star was seen in public was at the Women in Film’s 2013 Crystal + Lucy Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles back in June, when she was only a few months pregnant.
At the event, she cleverly hid her baby bump under a baggy black dress with sheer white sleeves. Nobody questioned the choice of wardrobe at the time.

Now, looking back, she does look very radiant, and something about her glow could have given away that Laura Linney was pregnant at the time.
As to the baby’s name (…) Linney has starred in several TV miniseries based on Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City and it seems she remains a big fan of the author (…) And viceversa. He’s said that, “I hear Laura’s voice” when he writes her character now.
Laura Linney was a no show in September of 2013 for the Emmys, were she won her fourth award for best actress for Showtime’s The Big C at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles, by then it would have been obvious she was expecting.
At the time, presenter Matt Damon accepted the award on Laura’s behalf, saying: “She’s such a great actress that she didn’t even need to show up.”
In October of 2013, days before the release of The Fifth Estate, she gave an interview over the phone since there was no mention of Laura’s delicate state.
Laura Linney said she was “taking a little time off,” which allowed her to binge-watch TV shows.
“I’ve watched House of Cards in, like, two days. I did all of Breaking Bad in the past few months. I watched Top of the Lake in one sitting. It’s fantastic. It’s really fun.”
“I’m not making plans. I’m trying to clear the slate and give myself a little time to breathe and then we’ll see. And then it’s the life of an actor — you never know. So far, so good.” Laura Linney casually said last year.
