Wiz Khalifa Opens Up About Uncle’s Murder, Says ‘He’s Always Going To Be With Us’

Wiz Khalifa recently opened up about the murder of his uncle Imani Porter.

Although the rapper issued a tweet following reports that the 20-year-old was reportedly killed during an alleged drug deal, Wiz Khalifa remained quiet about the murder. However, he decided to break his silence on the matter during a chat with the folks at MTV News.

The rapper said he and his family were completely shocked by his uncle’s passing. However, Wiz Khalifa said they were doing pretty well despite the tragic loss.

He told the outlet:

“I remember his smile. He had the biggest, biggest smile. He’s just a handsome, young man; he’s always going to be with us. We’re doing well, actually. He was a lot younger than us, so it’s really unfortunate. Being from where I’m from, Pittsburgh, it’s an up-and-down type of place. Right now, it’s not really a good time, and unfortunately, it hit home, so we’re all sad.”

Wiz Khalifa previously tweeted:

“Rest in peace Imani. Your with Allah now… My uncle was younger and more level-headed than all of us. I would have never seen this happening in a million years… God has a plan. Rest with God Imani.”

Jibril Abdul-Hafith, Porter’s dad, said coping with his son’s murder was very difficult. He added, “I’ve been crying all night, been crying when I woke up. There’s a hole in my heart.”

Porter was allegedly shot in the head by 17-year-old Jaron Young in a Steak and Shake parking lot last week. Wiz Khalifa’s uncle was rushed to an area hospital for treatment, though he later died from his injuries. Young was later charged with criminal homicide for his role in the shooting. Another suspect is reportedly still at large.

The Inquisitr previously reported that Young’s mother convinced her son to turn himself in. However, she doesn’t believe that Jaron had anything to do with the alleged drug transaction. Detectives found heroin in Porter’s vehicle, adding that Young was probably inside the car when he allegedly fired the fatal shot.

“It was the right thing to do. I didn’t raise my kid to be in the street. I didn’t. I raised him to be a respectable young man in the community,” Ronnica Sanders explained. She explained that her son didn’t have enough money to buy drugs.

An investigation into the death of Wiz Khalifa’s uncle is currently underway. The second suspect in the shooting is reportedly still at large as of this writing.
