Jennifer Lawrence Wants To Direct, But She Doesn’t Want To Suck At It

Jennifer Lawrence wants to try her hand at directing movies at some point in the near future. However, the actress admitted that she still has a few things to learn.

Since the actress is a cinematic force at the box office these days, it’s not altogether surprising that she would want to step behind the camera at some point in the near future. However, it could be a while before Lawrence is happy with her skills as a filmmaker.

“I would love to direct one day. My passion for directing happened at the same time as it did for acting on my first movie. But I don’t want to suck, so I wanna keep learning. And I’m learning from the best, fortunately, David O. Russell,” Lawrence explained during her appearance at the Golden Globes.

The American Hustle director is certainly a fan of Jennifer Lawrence. The pair also famously teamed up for the romantic comedy Silver Linings Playbook, a film that earned Lawrence an Academy Award.

Although Russell is clearly a fan of Jennifer Lawrence, he doesn’t have too many kind words for the folks over at Summit Entertainment and Lionsgate. In the filmmaker’s humble opinion, they’re working the young actress a little too hard on The Hunger Games.

“I’ll tell you what it is about that girl — talk about 12 years of slavery, that’s what the franchise is. And I’m going to get in so much trouble for saying that,” Russell said about Jennifer Lawrence’s time on the franchise.

The director continued, “I personally think they should give her a bit of breathing room over there because they’re printing money. But she’s a very alive person.”

Russell may have some strong opinions of about those big-budget The Hunger Games adaptations, but the movies certainly helped Jennifer Lawrence become the most bankable star on 2013. Since the actress has two more films in the series lined up, chances are her success at the worldwide box office will continue well into the future.

Jennifer Lawrence’s contribution to another major Hollywood franchise will also hit theaters this year. The Winter’s Bone star reprises her role as Mystique in director Bryan Singer’s superhero flick X-Men: Days of Future Past. If rumors are true, then this might be the last time Lawrence portrays the character on the big screen.

Are you a fan of American Hustle star Jennifer Lawrence? Would you like to see the actress direct a motion picture at some point down the cinematic road?
