Virgilio Ocampo: NYPD Searches For Man Accused Of Raping 7-Year-Old Girl

Virgilio Ocampo is accused of raping a 7-year-old girl in the Bronx last month, and now police in New York are making an all-out effort to find the 33-year-old suspect.

The girl, whose name has not been disclosed, was raped in the Soundview neighborhood of the Bronx on December 19. Police have been searching for suspect Virgilio Ocampo, who is described as being 5-foot-7 and 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Police said Ocampo knew the 7-year-old victim before the assault last month, and was friends with the girl’s father. They did not disclose any other details about the relationship.

Last week the New York Police Department released two pictures of Virgilio Ocampo, one showing him smiling in a park and another that appeared to be a mugshot.

The rape is reminiscent of another brutal attack carried out in the Bronx last year. A teacher allegedly raped his 10-year-old student, then sent her an apology for being too rough.

Suspect Anthony Criscuolo emailed the girl later in the day after police said he raped her inside his car, saying, “I was too rough. Sorry,” he wrote. “It’s normal. You may feel pain for a few days.”

Criscuolo was arrested after the girl’s parents found several sexually explicit emails sent by the teacher. He was charged with rape, predatory sexual assault against a child, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police in New York say anyone with information about Virgilio Ocamp or the rape of the 7-year-old girl can call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS or submit tips by texting 274637 and then entering TIP577.
