Oprah’s Final Show Sees Biggest Ratings in 17 Years

The Oprah Winfrey Show may have went dark on Wednesday but the undisputed queen of daytime talk did so with a big finale that drew her highest ratings in 17 years.

The show which ended after 25 seasons on network TV managed to draw in a 13.3 household rating according to Nielsen, the highest ratings for Oprah and her production since 1994 when an episode called “People Shed Their Disguises” aired to a 13.4 rating.

The entire final week was a big hit for Oprah with ratings more than doubled on the Monday and Tuesday leading up to the show.

Final show numbers used a metered market rating which measures 56% of households in the United States which can’t be used to determine exact audience numbers which means we’ll be waiting for two weeks to determine exactly how many people tuned in for the final and last several shows.

As she was preparing to leave network TV Oprah told her fans that they will still be able to stay in touch by emailing her Oprah@Oprah.com email address.
