Emily Osment Returns To TV In ABC Family’s ‘Young and Hungry’

Emily Osment returns to TV in 2014 on ABC Family’s new series titled “Young and Hungry.” The former “Hannah Montana” star played Miley Cyrus’ best friend in the show before turning her attention to a music career. Emily Osment, 21, has recorded two albums: Fight or Flight in 2010, and Oz to be released later this year.

“Young and Hungry” will feature the young actress as a food blogger named Gabi finding romance and herself as she pursues a culinary career. Jonathan Sadowski is set to play her potential love interest. Another former Disney Channel star, Ashley Tisdale, is producing the new show.

Emily Osment’s return to TV will surely bring in viewers that grew up watching her on “Hannah Montana.” The sister of former child acting star, Haley Joel Osment, Emily Osment was already making waves before her years on “Hannah Montana.” She first starred in “Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams” and “Spy Kids 3D: Game Over” as Gerti Giggles. Her role in Spy Kids 2 earned her a Young Artist’s award for “Best Performance in a Feature Film”.

Emily Osment’s show “Young and Hungry” is accompanied by another new comedy, “Mystery Girls,” in 2014. “Mystery Girls” stars Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth as two TV detectives reunited by a real life mystery. New ABC family president Tom Ascheim is thrilled about the new lineup.

“It’s great to start the new year and my tenure at ABC Family with the pickup of these two funny original series.”

“Viewers are excited to see Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth back on television together again, and will fall in love with Young & Hungry star Emily Osment in these comedies that bring us fun, new characters with which to laugh out loud,” said ABC Family’s Chief Creative Officer Kate Juergens.

Ashely Tisdale shared her excitement about “Young and Hungry” on twitter.
