First ‘Veronica Mars’ Movie Trailer Arrives Online [Video]

The first trailer for the Veronica Mars movie recently arrived online.

After raising an impressive $5.7 million dollars through an insanely successful Kickstarter campaign, director Rob Thomas and the cast of the television series finally made good on their desire for a big-screen Veronica Mars adventure. Check out the cinematic fruits of their hard work in the first clip embedded below.

The film finds Mars (Kristen Bell) as a law school graduate who spends her days interviewing for jobs and her nights with a dashing new boyfriend. Although it’s been years since she’s performed any amateur sleuthing work, Veronica finds herself playing detective once again when her ex-boyfriend becomes the prime suspect in a Neptune murder case.

Check out the synopsis for the Veronica Mars movie:

“Veronica Mars has put Neptune and her amateur sleuthing days behind her on the eve of graduating law school. While interviewing at high-end law firms, Veronica gets a call from her ex-boyfriend Logan who has been accused of murder. Veronica heads back to Neptune just to help Logan find an attorney, but when things don’t seem right with how Logan’s case is perceived and handled, Veronica finds herself being pulled back into a life she thought she had left behind.”

Although the television series only hung around for three seasons, Veronica Mars developed a very loyal following. Despite the show’s very rabid fanbase, the folks over at Warner Bros. weren’t overly interested in putting together a motion picture. This prompted creator Rob Thomas to venture into the world of online crowdfunding.

Thomas told the folks at Wired:

“Trying to convince Warner Bros to make a $30 million ‘Veronica Mars’ movie just wasn’t going to happen, for understandable reasons. When I took this project in, I didn’t take it in through their feature division. I’m making the movie with Warner Bros Digital; they do a lot of the smaller budget [projects]. I think we’re only going to be their second movie with a theatrical release; they typically do things straight to digital and digital download.”

After years of waiting, Veronica Mars is finally headed to cinemas around the country later this year. Fans can check out the amateur detective’s latest adventure on March 14. When you’re ready, check out the first trailer for the feature below.

Veronica Mars stars Kristen Bell, Jason Dohring, Chris Lowell, Ryan Hansen, Krysten Ritter, Percy Daggs III, Tina Majorino, Francis Capra, Ken Marino, and Enrico Colantoni. Are you planning to catch the movie when it arrives in theaters this March?
