Britney Spears Plagued By Lip-Syncing Rumors In Las Vegas
Britney Spears is already facing rumors that she’s lip syncing during her Las Vegas shows.
Although the singer’s managers denied rumors that she wouldn’t sing live during her residency at Planet Hollywood, it would appear that they weren’t telling the whole truth. According to the New York Daily News, Spears reportedly lip-synced during several of the songs she performed Friday evening.
A number of fans who attended the show reportedly noticed that Britney Spears wasn’t singing live on opening night. One fan stated that the singer was off by at least five seconds at one point. Not surprisingly, Twitter was soon flooded with other folks who were a little unhappy about the situation.
“While the show’s producers claim Spears is singing along with backing tracks of her own voice, there was little evidence Britney sang a live note,” Rolling Stone mentioned in a recent review of the Las Vegas show.
“The vast majority of the show was lip-synced, and only occasionally were any seemingly live vocals heard. There was a certain thrill in actually hearing Spears breathing into the microphone — however infrequent,” Billboard noted.
The Associated Press reports that Entertainment Programming Vice President Kurt Melien said Spears uses a backing track during her performances at Planet Hollywood. These backing vocals also give her songs the electronic sound found on her albums.
Rumors about the lip syncing first started making the rounds online back in October. The Inquisitr previously reported that Planet Hollywood and Britney Spears’ handlers issued a media “cheat sheet” to deal with these reports.
“Yes! She will be singing live! Certainly she will be singing live! Yes, all vocals will be live! No lip syncing will happen at the show
An anonymous insider added, “Once Britney actually gets to Planet Hollywood everyone will have to sign confidentiality agreements, but right now I can tell you the answers we’ve been given to any and all questions are extremely sugar-coated.”
