Macaulay Culkin Eating Pizza For Band ‘Pizza Underground’ Is News? [Video]

Macaulay Culkin eating pizza as an advertisement for his band called The Pizza Underground has apparently managed to mesmerize over 750,000 people so far. Has America found the new Nyan cat?

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, with Macaulay Culkin dating Jordan Price, some people have started calling her a Mila Kunis “lookalike.”

The breakup was apparently very hard on Culkin. After spending time recovering with a rock star drug addict, Culkin was spotted at Comic-Con New York looking healthy and happy and wearing his new hipster look.

The long hair, beard, and “artsy” glasses are apparently part of the theme for Pizza Underground, which is a parody band of the Velvet Underground. Here are the titles for the songs in their first album: Papa John Says, I’m Beginning to Eat the Slice, I’m Waiting for Delivery Man, Cheese Days, Pizza Day, All the Pizza Parties, Pizza Gal, and Take a Bite of the Wild Slice.

And here’s a slice of their lyrics as sung by Macaulay Culkin:

“Papa John says, when answering the phone, which toppings should I say you want, we deliver now. Papa John says, Papa John says that he’d like to know why you’re giving half your pie to toppings you hate now.”

Pizza Underground rocks out with multiple members as singers, including Culkin. The band has been recording their album from Macaulay’s house (so, yes, he’s not home alone…) and Matt Colbourn, Phoebe Kreutz, Deenah Vollmer, and Austin Kilham reportedly play such exotic instruments as the glockenspiel, tambourine, and a pizza box. (Whether or not they stop to eat pizza from this box between sets, I cannot confirm.)

So how does he afford all this? Macaulay Culkin’s net worth shot up dramatically with Home Alone 2, which earned him $4.5 million. He’s been in various movies since then, but it seems like he’s just coasting off previous success. The odd part is that, despite the lack of any real news, he continues to be popular with the public. (Perhaps Christmas time brings back fond memories of Home Alone?)

And that’s what makes the Macaulay Culkin eating pizza video so weird. Sounding like someone just died, he literally just eats a slice, announces his name, and that he ate it. So, yeah, we get it’s an odd way of doing viral marketing, and it’s apparently working, but it’s so odd…
