Widower Recreates Wedding Photos With Daughter [PHOTOS]
A widower recreated his wedding day photos with his daughter in an emotional attempt to help him through his grieving process. Warning, there is literally no way that you won’t cry perusing the images at the foot of the page.
Ben and Ali Nunery wed back in 2009, and they decided to pose for their wedding photographs in their new home, in Cincinnati, Ohio, which was still unfurnished. Melanie Pace, Ben’s new sister-in-law, snapped the images of the new happy young couple as they paraded around their abode.
Ben admitted on his blog, “Those images represent some of the happiest moments in my life. It was the beginning of what we planned on being a long and happy life together.”
Unfortunately, Ali soon discovered that she had a rare form of lung cancer. This didn’t stop the pair from conceiving their first child together, and in 2010 their daughter, Olivia, was born. A year later though, Ali succumbed to her illness, at the tender age of just 31.
This left Ben with the overwhelming duty of raising their child together, something which he has since revelled in. However, he continued to live in the house that he had shared with Ali, noting that it “felt like the last vestige of the life” that they had “set out to build together.”
Recently Ben decided that it was time to move out of the house, so that he could build new memories in fresh surroundings. But he didn’t just want to leave without marking his time with Olivia and Ali, so he once again called upon the services of his sister-in-law and the professional photographer was only happy to oblige.
Ben revealed that he wanted to recreate his wedding photos with Olivia by his side, which he would then juxtapose with the images from his special day.
“I was just really looking for a way to say farewell to the house, and have some things that Olivia and I can have to… remember [it by],” he told TODAY.com.
He continued on his blog, “I did it for me. I did it for us. I did it so I would have something to show for the love and beauty that occupied that house for a short time in our lives. Olivia and I will be able to look at these photos and know that for a short time there was a place where I was the luckiest man in the world, even if just for a little while.”
