YouTube Rewind: What Does 2013 Say?

It’s Friday evening, and many of us are hunkering down in preparation for this weekend’s snowstorms. When the snow starts falling, what is the best way to stay entertained while trapped in the house? Why, YouTube of course! And what’s better than watching a mash-up of this year’s greatest YouTube hits?

Portal A, a creative studio based in San Francisco and Los Angeles that develops, produces, and distributes videos built for the web, teamed up with YouTube to bring together all the best that YouTube offered viewers during the 2013 year.

So what did 2013 bring to the table? Portal A said it the best: “screaming goats, flaming twerks, forest foxes, wrecking balls, epic rap battles, and more Harlem Shakes than we can even remember.” And, of course, we can’t forget all the wonderful YouTube stars that keep us entertained.

Youtube Rewind brings the best of the best right to your computer screen in a short, yet entertaining video. Jessica Schiffman, Portal A’s Digital Strategist, stated in an email to The Inquisitr that the video features guest appearances by Macklemore, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Sesame Street, and over 60 YouTube stars, including Jenna Marbles, Pewdiepie, and Smosh.

The Portal A Team, also known for their production on the racy mascara ads for Benefit Cosmetics, was very excited to be approached by YouTube to help them create the tribute to this year’s top YouTube hits. The Portal A Team had many people they wanted to thank for their help in the creation of this year’s Rewind Video:

“We are honored to have worked with YouTube on this amazing project. A HUGE thank you to our production partners Sweatpants Media and Cinesaurus who poured their hearts and souls into this adventure. We also want to extend a tremendous thank you to the amazing cast of YouTube stars and the production crew for their boundless effort, enthusiasm, and skill.”

This video was a national effort, with clips coming from 6 countries including, Brazil, Spain, Korea, Japan, England and the US. Portal A also worked with DJ Earworm to create an original mashup track featuring Mackelmore’s “Can’t Hold Us”, Ylvis’s “What Does the Fox Say”, Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky”, Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” and Bauer’s “Harlem Shake”.

What’s even more fun for viewers is that they’ll get to see recreated sets from Ylvis “What Does the Fox Say”, Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines”, Miley Cyrus’s “Wrecking Ball”, Dove “Real Beauty Sketches”, and many more.

Enough is enough! If you haven’t seen the video on YouTube yet, we have it here for you! Check it out and tell us what you think.
