Shania Twain Opens Up To Oprah About Ex-Husbands Affair

Shania Twain spoke with Oprah Winfrey on Tuesday about her ex-husbands affair, telling the talk show host, “I didn’t want to kill myself but I didn’t want to live” while adding, “Our lives were intertwined in every respect and I really was completely shocked.”

Twain was married to superproducer Robert “Mutt” Lange for 14 years before he had an affair with Marie-Anne Thiébaud, a close friend of Shania

Shania told Oprah that she wrote Marie-Anne a letter in which she said, “Why are you torturing me? Let it go, please. Find love somewhere else from someone else.”

When Marie-Anne didn’t respond according to Shania she took further measures:

“By not understanding and not knowing the details your imagination is left to run wild,” she explained to Oprah. “I never got the details. I phoned Marie-Anne and did everything I could to get the details out of her and she changed her number and that was it.”

In an odd twist Twain eventually fell for Marie-Anne’s ex-husband Frédéric Nicolas Thiébaud who helped her come to grips with the situation and the couple fell in love and wed on New Year’s Day 2011.
