Toni Braxton Set To Join ‘Orange Is The New Black’

Is Toni Braxton making her way on the set of Orange Is The New Black? If she had it her way, she most definitely would. Earlier in the year, Braxton, who is known more for her 90s R&B hits, expressed her desires to play a lesbian on the big screen. Now it seems like she has her sights set on the Netflix phenomenon hit Orange Is The New Black.

During an interview with theGrio, Braxton expressed how eager she was to join the cast of Orange Is The New Black — if that was an option.

“I’m hoping to be on Orange Is the New Black. That’s my favorite show. I’m hoping… we’ll see. I told you I wanted to be a lesbian… I still want that.”

Earlier in the year, Braxton spoke about how she was ready to retire and quit music, but now it seems like she wants to put her focus on acting. Now, she’s not looking to retire at all, having said, “Retiring is off the table now. I don’t know what I was thinking.”

About her retirement at the time, Braxton had said:

“For what I do I have to love it. I have to feel that excitement and it’s gone. I’m just not going to do any albums anymore; maybe touring occasionally here and there because I love performing, but not as much as I did in the past. But no new projects.”

Even though she’s no longer making music, Braxton’s turn to acting isn’t a far stretch given that she’s a part of a reality show. She can currently be seen on Braxton Family Values. In addition, she was also in Lifetime’s Twist Of Fate, which was a made for TV film that centered around a single mother who just so happened to be a gospel singer. The catch? She falls in love with a Jewish man.

Hopefully producers at Orange Is the New Black are listening up to Toni Braxton’s request, as she would be a pretty interesting dynamic for the show.
