Dwayne Johnson And Paul Walker Bonded Over Fatherhood

Dwayne Johnson, the pro-wrestler-turned-actor – better known as ‘The Rock’ – spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the recent tragic death of his co-star and friend Paul Walker.

Walker, who died in a fatal car crash on Saturday, was a passenger in his friend’s car when it went off the road and hit a pole.

Johnson, who starred in The Fast and Furious movies with Walker, was clearly shocked by the news of his death. He spoke about Paul Walker’s reservations when it came to being famous:

“That was one of the interesting things about Paul: his reservations about being in the spotlight and being a star, whatever the definition of that may be. He was motivated by work that allowed him to take care of his family, number one, and that also allowed him the power and the leverage to help people in need and in crisis.”

Dwayne Johnson spoke at some length about his relationship and special connection with Paul. He spoke to the publication about how the two met when they were in their 20’s:

“When I first met Paul, I think in our late 20s, we were young kids in the business. Then years later, when I did Fast Five, we had an opportunity to spend a lot of time together and become reacquainted. At that time, we had both been in the business at that time for over a decade, and the most important thing that we had in common was the importance of family time and being a great father to our daughters. We bonded over that.”

Dwayne Johnson isn’t the only friend and co-star to have spoken publicly about Paul Walker’s untimely death. Another Fast and Furious co-star, Jordana Brewster Tweeted on Sunday: “Paul was pure light. I cannot believe he is gone.”
