Evangeline Lilly Bullied By The Guys In ‘The Hobbit: Desolation Of Smaug’?

Was Evangeline Lilly bullied on the set of The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug?

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Evangeline was featured on a new set of New Zealand Hobbit stamps and she calls being cast in the Desolation of Smaug a “dream come true.”

A feisty elf named Tauriel is being played by Evangeline Lilly for the second installment of The Hobbit:

“She’s a very, very young elf. She’s only 600 years old, unlike Legolas who’s like, 1,900 years old and Thranduil who’s about 3,000 years old. She doesn’t have quite the wisdom and pose that those two boys do; she’s a little more… gritty. A little more spontaneous, passionate perhaps.”

Martin Freeman, who plays Bilbo Baggins, claims the male-dominated cast gave her some razzing due to her being the new girl in town:

“We bullied her. She kind of came along and ruined it, because it was a sort of manly band of brothers, and then she came along and insisted on being all girly and all that. So we sort of ostracized her as far as possible until we were told off by Peter Jackson [director]. I didn’t even see it as mean. I saw it as our duty to a certain extent. Just to make her really work for it.”

But when Lilly was asked if she’d in fact been bullied on set she denied it:

“Nothing could be farther from the truth. The boys treated me like a gosh-darn princess. They flirted with me, they doted on me, they were chivalrous to me. I was in heaven. I was surrounded by gorgeous, charming men every day for a year. It was wonderful.”
