Toledo School On Lockdown: Student With Gun Contained In Classroom


The Toledo Scott High School is on lockdown. Breaking news reports published by the Toledo Blade indicate that a student with a gun has been contained inside a classroom at the Ohio school. Fox News is reporting that police officers are on the scene and the student with the gun is inside an empty classroom. Local police officers were reportedly engaged in standoff negotiations with the armed student.

Toledo police officers reportedly believe the student with a gun is 15 years old. It is not currently known if the Ohio teenager is male or female. Staff and students were ordered to seek cover in classroom closets and other similar areas within the building at the time. Parents have been asked not to come to the Northern Ohio school and attempt to pick up their children at this time.

Police scanner traffic indicates that an emergency call went out from the school around 9:30 am this morning. The caller reportedly stated that an individual with a gun was spotted in the hallway of Scott High School.

TARTA General Manager Jim Gee noted that two buses were requested at the scene by Toledo Public School officials.The buses will be used to transport students and staff away from the school if necessary. The buses were deployed to the corner of Machen and Fulton Streets.

Toledo Police Lt. Mark King told local media that school staffers did what they were supposed to do after spotting a teenager who took a gun out of a bag. The student has now been taken into custody without further incident or injury to anyone at the Ohio school. A press conference about the Scott High School incident is being planned for later today.
