Petra Island Still For Sale, Angelina Not Buying It For Brad Pitt

Petra Island can still be yours after Angelina Jolie passed on the pricey gift for Brad Pitt.

Reports this week said Angelina was considering a purchase of the private island located in Upstate New York for Brad’s 50th birthday.

But the owners of Petra Island, Barbara and Joseph Massaro, denied reports that Jolie was looking into buying it.

“It is still for sale,” Donna Massaro, daughter of Barbara and Joseph, told E! News.

“We are open to show Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt the island but they have to have lunch at my cafe first,” Massaro joked. “It [the house] is a labor of love and a piece of art.”

The rumor did seem to have some basis in reality. Angelina’s father, Jon Voight, grew up in nearby Yonkers, and the family still has ties to the region.

The island is listed on PrivateIslandsOnline, a site that connects the uber wealthy with private islands that are for sale. The site describes the island as 11 acres in size, situated on the state’s exclusive Lake Mahopac. The island comes with its own helicopter launching pad, and is accessible to the mainland by boat.

The crowning jewels of Petra Island are two structures — a 1,200-square-foot cottage and a 5,000-square-foot mansion — that come from some famous origins.

The site notes:

“The cottage was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and built in 1950. The main residence was built in 2008 from one of Wright’s final plans, and is considered by some to be one of the most spectacular designs of his career. Boasting 1,500 square feet of skylights and vast expanses of stone, cement, and mahogany, the main residence is truly a triumph of modern architecture.”

“Island properties such as this are rarely seen on the market – a must-see!”

Those interested in purchasing Petra Island are asked to inquire with PrivateIslandsOnline. The sale price is reportedly $20 million.
