Best Buy Black Friday 2013 Deals, Matching Prices

Best Buy is gearing up for Black Friday 2013, the day after Thanksgiving when the Christmas shopping season officially begins, and it has some great deals.

The struggling retailer will join others in opening on Thanksgiving Day for the first time, in an attempt to bolster sales.

With that end in mind Best Buy announced on Thursday, that as part of their Black Friday campaign, they will match competitors’ prices even after the item is purchased at their stores or online.

They’re also rolling out Black Friday deals a week early as well as the matching online prices.

Best Buy is facing stiff competition in the electronics area and, as many retailers, needs a strong November and December to increase profitability as it accounts for 40 percent of their annual revenues.

However, CEO Hubert Joly says the chain will match competitors’ prices so that cost will not factor into where consumers decide to shop.

Beginning last week and up until Christmas Eve, Best Buy Black Friday deals will be matched to any competitors and if the customer finds a lower price at their store or elsewhere they will be paid the difference.

“The game has changed, price is off the table,” Joly said in New York on Thursday.

Joly is also hoping services such as store pick-up for online purchases, the Geek Squad services, and helpful store associates will attract customers.

Best Buy has been facing some financial difficulties due to strong competition from online retailers and discount stores and is in the midst of a revamping under Joly.

The programs established to boost sales for the retailer include employee training, cost cutting, and remodeling of stores.

Some of the deals highlighted by Best Buy, which offers free shipping online, for its Black Friday 2013 are:
