The squads are facing off in the five-day test in Brisbane, one that comes with some dramatic overtones.
There is already some built in tension between the longtime rivals after Australian coach Darren Lehmann accused Stuart Broad of cheating during the summer’s Ashes. Even the local newspaper in Brisbane, the Courier Mail, dubbed him “Stuart Fraud” and banned the use of his real name.
Broad got quite a few boos from the Australian crowd on the opening day of the first Ashes Test at the Gabba, but responded with five wickets to help the team from England take control.
Going into the Australia vs. England cricket test, Australia’s captain Michael Clarke said he is looking forward to the matchup between the two squads, which recently met for an English victory.
“The boys are all extremely excited, there’s been a lot of talk since we’ve returned home from England about this series and I think all the boys are looking forward to finally getting out there tomorrow,” he said.
Clarke also praised the venue for the match.
“The Gabba is one of the best Test wickets in the world to play, it… always keeps the bowlers interested and once you’re in, it’s as good a place to bat as anywhere.”
