Sarah Silverman: I Was ‘Violated’ Filming Sex Scene For Comedy

Sarah Silverman has discussed filming a “brutal” sex scene for a comedy which left her feeling violated.

The risqué comedienne often discusses taboo subjects such as rape in her stand-up shows. However, she has noted that she doesn’t tackle these issues lightly.

Silverman recalled the incident after she was innocently provoked by Howard Stern during her appearance on his radio show.

Stern asked Silverman if she had ever been approached by apoplectic women who had taken offence at her material. This lead her to respond, “I haven’t… I’ve had violating experiences that made me go, ‘Whoa.’ I never take rape lightly. I talk about the most brutal, upsetting, traumatic things and that’s one of them.”

Silverman then went on to candidly discuss shooting a sex scene for an unnamed comedy film, which left her feeling scathed.

“I’ve had experiences in my life…” admitted the There’s Something About Mary actress. “I had a brutal sex scene in something that [before] I was looking around going, ‘Is there gonna be a board or something between us?'”

She then added, “I fell on deaf ears and the next thing I knew it was happening. It hurt to walk for days.”

Silverman expected some kind of obstruction to be place between her and her “completely naked” co-star during the filming of the scene, explaining, “[I expected] someone would have have thought beforehand and protected me in some way.”

She then exploded, “He is completely naked except for not even the thickness of a sock. I can completely feel his boner. He’s not even a real actor, he’s an extra!”

Silverman explained how the “extra” ferociously acted out the uncomfortable scene, before noting just how distressing an experience it was for her.

“It felt very violating,” she admitted. “It made me realise I’m a very strong woman and this happened to me. It’s not rape but it was kind of a wake-up call.”

Last week, Silverman was a guest onJimmy Kimmel Live!, where in her inimitable dry style she discussed how weird it was appearing on her ex-boyfriend’s talk show. The two comedians decided to end their relationship in 2009 after dating each other for several years.

She teased, “Isn’t this like weird, but good weird? This is human nature. This is the way life is. People break up, and exes are gonna bump into each other. They’re gonna cross paths. They’re gonna be on each other’s talk shows, you know? It’s the cycle of life.”
