PS4 Black Friday Deals: Sony Made Enough PlayStation 4 Units For Christmas 2013

PS4 Black Friday deals in 2013 might actually be one of the few times you can get hold of a PlayStation 4 before Christmas comes.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, if you’re looking for PS4 deals, Black Friday 2013 is unfortunately not the “perfect day” promised by Sony, although there will be some PlayStation 4 game deals available. Just be wary of any PS4 glitches, although the PS4 Blue Light of Death is not always the end of the world.

If you know anything about economics, you’ll know about the laws of supply and demand. Because demand is much higher than supply this 2013 Christmas season, any PS4 Black Friday deals will of course not include a price discount. So far, all the Black Friday 2013 leaked ads have focused on sales on Xbox 360 and PS3 games, but if you buy multiple PS4 games, some retailers are offering gift cards as a discount.

Although retailers such as Walmart are starting their sales on Thanksgiving Day, and are including some month long deals, they are working with Sony to ensure they have enough units for the PS4 Black Friday deals:

“We have worked with Sony to have allocation for Black Friday. We are holding it now, and we will be distributing it into stores and they’ll hold it for the Black Friday event.”

Laura Phillips, senior vice president of Entertainment for Walmart, says Xbox One deals will also have special shipments reserved for Black Friday only. But, since these sales are technically starting on Thanksgiving Day evening, it’s possible you may have to miss out on family and turkey in order to snag any PS4 deals.

But Andrew House, Sony Computer Entertainment CEO, says that even if you miss the PS4 Black Friday deals, you should be able to find a PlayStation 4 before Christmas if you look hard enough:

“[This is] the first platform launch that I’ve ever been involved with where we’ve had such a good production ramp up and a good sense of supply. I think that we will be in good supply in the countries that we’ve launched in. You try to strike a balance, particularly for us with such a strong brand in all the European countries and across the Middle East. We are ensuring that we have the broadest reach to ensure that people are satisfied, especially when they’ve been loyal to brand for so long. On the other hand, we’re not engendering frustration by having a shortage of supply. I think through the holiday season that we’ll be in good supply.”

Sony estimates PS4 sales will exceed three million units by the end of 2013 in all 32 launch countries. Projections claim five million by March, although they already sold one million PS4 units on just the launch date. The best news for Sony is that the PlayStation 4 is almost not a loss leader, making the launch one of the most profitable console releases in history.

Will you be skipping the traditional Thanksgiving meal to hunt down the PS4 Black Friday deals as a Christmas gift?
