iOS 7.1: Is It Making Your Apps Crash?

Apple’s new iOS 7.1 may be the cause of your apps crashing or freezing. After much feedback from some less than happy users it seems that pre-existing apps which ran smoothly before, are now crashing on the new iOS 7.1.

Users are reporting that it isn’t only the third-party apps which crash but also standard Apple apps. The stats show that apps installed on the iPhone 5S only have a two percent crash rate while the crash rates on the iPhone 5C are less than one percent.

One of the leading iPhone App Development Companies, Openxcell Technolabs, say that 90 percent of existing apps they tested had performance issues with the new iOS 7.1.

Jayneel Patel, the Managing Director of Openxcell Technolabs, said about the issue:

Certainly it takes three or four shots for the developers to fix the things that iOS7 is currently facing. This suggests that apps are having recital issues in double as many areas as they normally do. To our surprise, after the transition from iOS 7 to iOS 4, 5 and 6 we couldn’t find any sort of spike in performance issues as well as UI rendering issues.

So the question remains, is the new iOS 7.1 the culprit for poor performance of apps or is it simply the iPhone 5S which is causing the problems? Some say that the culprit is the 64-bit A7 processor which isn’t featured in the iPhone 5 or 5C.

Apple have not said that the apps designed for their 32-bit phones may have issues on the 64-bit iPhone 5S, although if the A7 processor proves to be running fine during testing the iOS 7.1 is most likely to blame.
