Verizon Wireless Preparing To Ditch One Year Contract Option
Verizon Wireless customers who want a discounted phone will soon have to sign a two-year contract. Internal documents posted online today by Gadget U. shows proof that the company is preparing to ditch their one-year contract option.
The internal document states that very few customers have used the one-year contract offer which often discounts phones but not as deeply as the company’s two-year contract offer.
As part of the plan business users and governmental agencies will still be offered the one-year contract offer, while retail customers will be able to choose between prepaid and two-year contract offers.
April 17 is rumored to be the date when the one-year contract offer will fail to exist any longer.
While the move may seem radical, in many parts of the world including Canada, it’s not uncommon for three-year contracts to be required in order to take advantage of a wireless companies best cell phone discount offers.
