Hollywood Bar Plans To Sell $500 Milkshake

A new Hollywood bar is planning on serving up a $500 milkshake during its opening on Thursday, November 14. Now, when we spend a night on the town, we expect to spend a pretty penny, but $500 for one drink? Now this should be interesting.

According to ABC News, the new nightspot is called The Powder Room, and is located in Hollywood, California. The club is reportedly going to be one glamorous hotspot, decked out in high curved wood walls, a beautiful black marble bar, and white snake-skin bar stools. The Powder Room is said to be inspired by old Hollywood studios and, according to ABC News, is “approachable, yet glam.”

So what is with the whole idea behind the $500 milkshake? Well, it isn’t your average milkshake, that’s for sure. Club owner John Arakaki told ABC News that they “wanted to offer an experience where guests could take something special home with them,” and that something is a Swarovski Nirvana Montana blue crystal ring that can be kept as a souvenir.

The $500 milkshake is called “The Velvet Goldmine,” and while award-winning mixologist Adrianne Biggs won’t reveal the whole recipe, it is said to be made up of premium spirits, premium Belgian chocolate and edible gold, and of course will arrive to the customer garnished with the Swarovski Nirvana Montana blue crystal ring. Now if that’s not glam, I’m not sure what is!

Arakaki told ABC News that this drink is “perfect for a bachelorette party or a special occasion,” and even compared it to finding the prize in the bottom of a Cracker Jack box. Now, maybe it’s just me, but if I found a Swarovski Nirvana Montana blue crystal ring at the bottom of a Cracker Jack box, I’d be pretty happy.

Website Jezebel may think a little differently, writing that for $500, “that milkshake better bring all manner of man and beast to my yard. That ring isn’t going to cut it.” For all those who don’t feel like spending a fortune on just one drink, don’t worry, there are a variety of other adult beverages on the drink list that range from $10 to $30.

What do you think about The Powder Room’s “The Velvet Goldmine,” which will cost guests $500? The official opening of the bar to the general public will be November 22, 2013, and Arakaki says that if the drink is a hit, then they will defiantly keep it around.
