The other day President Obama announced that he expects all government agencies “to purchase 100 percent alternative fuel, hybrid, or electric vehicles by 2015“.
To be clear this doesn’t mean that the current agency fleets will be replaced but rather any new vehicles being purchased will be expected to comply with this mandate.
Along with the government agency mandate Obama also announced the National Clean Fleets Partnership, which is an initiative that is part of a larger Clean Cities program.
Apparently this is a unique program that is meant to help large corporations reduce their usage of diesel and gasoline powered vehicles by incorporating electric vehicles, and other fuel saving measures.

When it comes to savings companies like AT&T will be replacing over 15,000 vehicles with 7,000 hybrids and 8,000 natural gas vehicle and would be a part of the possible saving of a total 7million gallons of fuel per year by the combined companies.
