Sexist study determines 1 in 5 women “have kids with multiple dads”
Nearly 20% of children were born to evil sluts with no sense of shame, according to a relatively sexist new study about single parenting and household demographics.
The study very pointedly mentions the role of fathers only in passing, and no statistic was presented about the number of men who have children with multiple women- it sounds almost as if these women obtained their children from the cabbage patch. The ensuing social effects, it seems, lay solely on the shoulders of women with an inability to keep their legs closed, and has nothing to do with men who lack interest in raising the families they’ve created.
Postdoctoral fellow at the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research Cassandra Dorius called the issue “pervasive,” and said women just don’t know how difficult raising a child alone could be. (Ostensibly, “women” don’t personally know or were not raised by this outlying 20% of babydaddy hoarders):
Women with low income and little education were also more likely to have children with different birth fathers.
An important message that doesn’t appear to be getting through is just how hard it is to raise a child as a single parent.
“While these women tended to be poorer than others to begin with, their whole lifetimes continue to be disadvantaged,” she said.
Katherine Stamps Mitchell of Louisiana State University highlighted the reluctance she presumed on the part of women to marry before having children:
Studies have shown that, increasingly, young women are choosing to become moms before they are committing to marriage, Mitchell says.
What we don’t yet know is the long-term impact of that choice on the kids and the moms, Mitchell says.
“This area of research is pretty new,” she adds. “It’s possible that some of these kids will be multiply disadvantaged.”
You can read more about the study and the conclusions drawn from data here. It would be interesting to see the data reinterpreted not as a moral failing or poor choice on the part of women only, but in the context of larger-scale, widespread changes in the structure of American families.
