Taye Diggs Goes Naked In ‘The New Girl,’ Dances In ‘Best Man Holiday’

Taye Diggs fans had a pretty good week.

First, the 42-year-old actor made a guest appearance on The New Girl in which he tried to seduce Zooey Deschanel’s character Jess, then he busted out his best New Edition dance moves for his role in The Best Man Holiday.

In The New Girl, Diggs plays a love interest to Jess, who is angry with her boyfriend Nick for going to a strip club. Diggs takes her advances the wrong way and ends up naked in her bed, refusing to leave.

The guest spot was quite predictably popular with Taye Diggs fans, especially his female fans, and has gotten plenty of press online. Countless websites posted snapshots of the steamy guest appearance, and Perez Hilton even immortalized it in a series of gifs.

Diggs’ role was announced in September, part of an episode that also featured the return of former Happy Endings star Damon Wayans Jr. to the show.

“Described as a ‘smooth, confident ladies’ man,’ Artie has his eyes set on Jess, which proves to be problematic for her new relationship with Nick. And New Girl fans, take note: The episode in question also heralds the return of Damon Wayans Jr. The Happy Endings star, who played Coach in the pilot episode, kicks off a multi-episode arc at the same time.”

If that wasn’t enough to satisfy Taye Diggs fans, the actor also appears in The Best Man holiday, in which he and fellow co-stars paid homage to the R&B group New Edition with a special dance number.

The dance was actually a surprise to many working on the film as actors Morris Chestnut, Taye Diggs, Harold Perrineau, and Terrance Howard decided to keep the scene a secret from their co-stars.

“We worked really hard. And we had to hide it from the women, because the first time they see it, is when they’re on screen. Malcolm was like, ‘Don’t show them,’ ” Perrineau told HipHollywood at this week’s premiere of the movie.
